Have you ever been thirsty? Andy helps us understand what’s going on with the Supreme Court’s decision to undermine the Clean Water Act, and as usual he delivered. We make these videos to educate and empower viewers towards political action.

Our system of government is filled with corrupt, hateful and rather stupid individuals. Sorry to be so harsh but the time has long since come and gone for mincing words. The planet that we depend on for air, water, food and shelter is under attack by agents of greed and consumption.

We have to stand up for ourselves and each other right now, because our elected officials clearly will not. So let them know that if they won’t join us on the frontlines we’ll find someone who will. I’ll ask again; have you ever been thirsty?

Burning The Future was produced with support from Southern Forests Conservation Coalition and Rachel Carson Council. Cinematography and postproduction provided by WSC Cinema. Ground and drone imagery of forest clearcutting provided by O’Brennan Photography.

Please stay in touch with SFCC’s efforts to halt the egregious wood pellet to electricity scheme currently destroying nearly 200 acres of North Carolina’s natural forests every day to harvest and process about 20,000 tons of green wood into less than 10,000 tons of dry pellets that get shipped to Europe and Asia where those thousands of once-living trees are burned to provide ten hours of electricity for less than four million electricity users.

Help us halt the burning of American trees to electrify Europe and Asia: Contact your elected policymakers and tell them to stop using American taxes to pay European and Asian utility bills! We have our own utility bills to pay!

Magnificent Rescue

We are delighted to share the heartening news from the US Fish & Wildlife Service (Service) regarding a magnificent snail that my family and Coastal Plain Conservation Group (CPCG) have mostly single-handedly shepherded from extinction since August 28th 1992! After decades of asking, the Service has, at long last, proposed Endangered Species listing for the Magnificent Ramshorn (Planorbella magnifica)!

CPCG is using this conservation alignment to release our four-minute video documentary, Magnificent Rescue: A story about water, snails, and environmental commitment. Magnificent Rescue was produced with Tony Morin (Hendy Street Produxions), cinematographer, Nic True and Robin Wood, CPCG’s volunteer media director.

CPCG is working on more video stories to follow that we hope you’ll enjoy and share. Again in the meantime, sharing Magnificent Rescue will help us raise awareness about the plight of an ecosystem as seen through the life of a snail.

Here’s to the nuts and bolts that hold our ecosystem intact!

Sunny Day Flood

Development on the West Bank of the Cape Fear River threatens the natural and cultural history of our riverfront. The plan is shortsighted and wrong headed. This development will benefit only the developers. Developing the West Bank of the Cape Fear River will forever alter the view shed and tranquil beauty of our river. Don't let short term financial gain for a select few forever tarnish this unique ecosystem. Protect What's Left.
